"Democracy Game Review- Democracy
in Action. At first blush, Democracy might not seem all that intriguing.
It doesn't have flashy graphics, or catchy music, or any memorable
characters. But what it DOES have is a truly unique gameplay style
and premise. As the newly-elected leader of the country of your
choosing, it's up to you to shape the nation via policies both new
and old. Time in the game goes by quickly, allowing you to see the
fruits of your decisions, both rotten and ripe. Keep the people
happy, and you'll get reelected, fail at this and you'll be voted
out of office. No two games play identically, thanks to semi-random
events that affect your populace, and therefore your popularity.
How you handle these situations might well likely determine your
political future. It's a game that demands a balancing act between
being effective and popular, and is a rather challenging one, though
there are options available to make the game easier or harder, depending
on taste. Democracy offers almost infinite replay value, which is
something many games lack, thanks to its variety of countries and
gameplay tactics available. In short, you should most definitely
cast your vote for Democracy. You won't be disappointed."-

"Democracy Game Review - Democracy
- Great sim game. I wasn't sure what I was getting into from
looking at the screen
shots and the short description but I gave it a shot. Contrary
to its cover, it's not necessarily American Democracy, you can
choose
from a list of countries which is a nice touch. I chose America
because I thought I'd stand the best chance of understanding
different
political stances. You need to keep your approval rating high enough
to stay in office, but have a four year term to work on that.
You
get two decisions a turn (I believe each turn is four months in
office), the decisions range from new bills to deciding what
side
to take on one that's already out there (such as teaching creationism
in schools). It's challenging and each decision changes how
each
focus group feels about you and your approval rating. It's also
interesting because if you play the game focused on what decisions
you would like to be made rather than what you think will get the
best approval rating you can get a simulation of what your approval
rating would be in office. It also gives a great insight to all
the different decisions, crises, and voting groups that one
has
to deal with in the population. There’s a lot of compromise
involved as you try to do what you think is best while still working
to appease the masses. I think Democracy is a great game because
it's inventive (the closest thing to it out there is Kudos),
it's imaginative, it's challenging, and it's a game you can learn
something from." - Reality Rules
"Democracy Game Review - Democracy is easily the one
game on this site with the MOST gameplay. I've been playing Democracy
since it came out (around 2 years ago) and it's simply the most
involved political simulator you can find. If anyone has played
the game Capitalism by Trevor Chan, Democracy is to politics what
Capitalism is to economics. They should use this game to teach Poli-sci.
There is a whole lot of information presented all at once, and it's
a bit hard to get into, but once you get hooked onto how realistic
the gameplay is, you won't be able to stop playing. It presents
politics simply, with cause and effect to each policy explained.
Do try it - it's well worth the money." - Lifetime Player
"Democracy Game Review - It's fun to be
a political ruler!!! I actually loved Democracy. It gives you
control of a country of your choice. I never thought that being
a politician
would be so much fun! You control every thing about your country
in this game. And thats what makes this game difficult because
you
have to find a balance to get more than 50% of the votes! I just
didn't like one thing about this game: you can get stupidly arrested
in South America if you are against the wealthy and capitalist!
This is very stupid and shouldn't happen. Great game! I advise
you
to buy it if you liked the demo!!!" - Budding Politician
"Democracy Game Review -
Move over Mr President let's play Democracy. Wow, what an interesting
game. Never took politics to
be, well, so involved and so difficult to juggle. Just couldn't
keep the motorists happy, no matter what. Great fun though,
watching
my supporters love me more and more :) Now, if only real life could
be a game, then Mr Prime Minister and Mr. President would have
to
move over, see me come in, get rid of the deficit, build up billions
in reserve, and get 95% of the vote! If only!" -
